Limiting Beliefs & Hypnosis

The ideas we believe control our lives and our happiness. Emotional distress is experienced when something we believe about the world is inconsistent with the reality we experience. However, instead of re-evaluating our beliefs we usually just get angry or withdrawn because we know we are right. This limits us and constrains our life to an unsatisfying one where we can never truly be ourselves and learn to fly.

The Art of Listening

Silence is golden the song said. But never when two or more people are together – then silence just becomes more and more uncomfortable. People speak to end that silence. But those they speak to are uninterested in what is being said because a ball has been tossed over the net and it now has to be returned – bigger, better, faster…

Are We Killing Our Kids?

There was a time when we would do everything we could to prevent our children from coming to any harm. That desire of every parent is being undermined by the businesses and politicians that we give our power away to. Children from age 4 through to University are being tested and stressed and having more and more pressure put on them to perform to crazy expectations. And because we don’t want our child to be the one left out we push just like everyone else. It’s killing our kids. It isn’t going to stop either. But there is something you can do to protect your child…

Biggest Loser Wins, Or Do They Really Lose After All

There are two broad approaches to weight loss: quick and dirty, or slow and sustainable. I am an advocate of the latter, but the quick and dirty approach sees Rachel Frederickson 155lbs lighter and $250,000 richer. The before and after pics look like two different people. But is she just harming herself, and will it last?

You Don’t Have To Be Shot At To Be Stressed At Work

Some jobs are clearly more stressful than others. Being in fear of your life every moment of every day doesn’t have much competition. But, for sensitive people, life can seem like that and mundane ordinary jobs – jobs that other people cope with and even enjoy – can seem like a journey into Hell every day. This is one of the reasons why tranquillisers and anti-depressants are amongst the most commonly prescribed medications. But it isn’t so much about the job, it’s because we’ve lost touch with our soul. We’ve lost touch with who we are, and we’ve lost touch with our connection to others. We live isolated lives where we have to spend so much time just earning enough to pay the bills that we have little time left for ourselves or our families. Change is possible. Peace is achievable.

Reducing Stress At Work

Stress in the workplace is endemic. Workers are used like robots. Individual skills and talents are ignored or under-utilised. Managers don’t have a clue. Companies, no names but you know who I mean, pay their workers the minimum they can get away with and exploit poverty and high unemployment to get away with unreasonable treatment of staff. It’s time for a revolution. Not a physical revolution but a gentle, slow, mindful revolution. If they can’t get to your mind, they can’t get to you. Train your mind and learn to be free.

The Biology of Belief – Bruce H. Lipton PhD: A Review

Wow! This is one of the most powerful books I’ve read in a very long time. Can’t in all honesty say it was an easy read, at least not for the first half of the book, but it certainly rewarded […]

Taking Control of Your Health & Well-Being

Do you ever wonder why, in spite of all your good intentions, you just cannot seem to take control over your health and wellness the way you really want to? The answer to that question can be found in the words of Albert Einstein, who reminded us "you cannot correct a problem with the same thinking that created it”. In other words, you cannot change old behaviors without new information.

The Impact of Words & Psycho-Cybernetics

When I started my Clinical Hypnosis training way back in 1997 one of the books on the recommended reading list was Maxwell Maltz's Psycho-Cybernetics. Since it didn't seem directly related to hypnosis, and had a slightly odd title, I never bought a copy.
